The Metropolitan police this week dropped a lengthy rape investigation into Andrew Rosindell, the hard right Tory Brexiteer and MP for Romford.
But sources in the local conservative association say the case has left a “toxic culture”, which Tory central office is ignoring.
The chairman of the Romford Young Conservatives recently went public in a largely ignored tweet about a suicide attempt, which he blames on safeguarding failures in the party after he was allegedly bullied and harassed by fellow activists.
In an interview with The Upsetter, Joe Lynch further claims that Rosindell is turning “a blind eye” to what is going on.
This includes allegations that critics in the party are being harassed by anonymous late night calls.
Days before Christmas, Lynch reported such calls to the Met, which he said started after he resigned and criticised the local and national Tory party.
This newsletter is also aware of a senior Tory councillor and critic of Rosindell’s anti-immigration stance apparently receiving harassing calls at all times of the day and night.
What the hell is going on in this Tory seat?
