Sweeney Special: Blaggers, Bent Old Bill & Farewell Flying Squad

Scotland Yard’s much famed Flying Squad is under threat, and not from armed villains going ‘across the pavement’.

This threat is an existential one from senior management of the Yard, who appear to want to shut it down.

In this last dispatch of 2024, The Upsetter considers the history of courage and corruption at the notorious Sweeney and brings news that:

• A third former Flying Squad detective has received a payout over the leaking of the secret Tiberius report on corruption in the Metropolitan Police

• Yet the senior officer who leaked it remains protected by the same anti-corruption squad who are trying to silence a former Flying Squad officer for blowing the whistle on the Met.

As DI Jack Regan might have said: “Get down there George and give your eyes a treat.”
